The video shows how some vegetables, peas in this case, are dyed to look fresher. It also shows a watermelon injected with some red chemical in order to be more appealing to buyers. The chemical used on the fruit and vegetables in the video is erythrosine B, which is usually used in desserts or decoration of cakes. It actually is an additive (E 127). However, the FDA imposed a ban on this chemical in 1990 because studies have shown that prolonged use of erythrosine B leads to cancer in mice.
