The Hunza are a small group of people from Northern Pakistan which live up to 100 years and rarely get sick. They don’t know what cancer is, often give birth at even 65 and bath in cold water frequently. According to Dr. Robert McCarrison, the Hunza haven’t had a single reported case of cancer! So, where does the secret to their incredible health lie?

The Hunza grow their own food and eat a diet rich in raw fruits and vegetables. Their diet mostly consistsof nuts, dried apricots, milk, cereal, millet, barley, buckwheat, eggs and on rare occasions, cheese. They consume apricots every day after drying them in the sun. The Hunza are physically active too – they spent the entire day on foot, and fast for a period of 2-4 months every year. During the fast, they consume nothing but dried apricot juice until the fruits are ripe for harvest.

According to numerous experts, it is the fasting itself that is the secret to their longevity, while the high amount of apricot in their diet is responsible for no cancer among the community. Scientists believe that their healthy diet and lifestyle gives them a youthful look, and is also the reason why they live well over 100. These beliefs were confirmed by a 1984 story which covered the case of Said Abdul Mbundu, a Hunza man who stunned all officers at a London airport when he showed them his documents who said that he was born in 1832, even though he looked far younger.
