Besides many other green vegetables that are good for our health, the celery should take big part of the diet if having lung cancer. A study conducted showed that the celery can destroy up to 86% of the lung cancer cells because of its anti cancer compound called apigenin. It can kill breast cancer, prostate, ovarian and pancreatic cancers. Women who consumed this compound reduced their risk of getting ovarian cancer by 20% and breast cancer by 19%. Consuming 2-3 medium stalks of celery 2-3 times a week can reduce the risk of lung cancer up to 60%. There is still a need to combine the apigenin with other beneficial celery properties.

The vascular endothelial growth can produce the protein needed to stimulate new blood vessels, but it can also help the tumor to grow. Apigenin is on the other hand helpful because it can decrease the growth of vascular endothelial, prostate, thyroid, lung cancer and leukemia. It can also stop the cancer cells in the pancreas to form and grow because it regulates the uptake of the glucose.

Celery is a great antioxidant, besides preventing cancer and it also is great source of fiber. Add this amazing vegetable in your salads, stir fries, soups, smoothies or salsa.

If possible always try to buy organically grown celery because it is free from pesticides.
